1935 Liam (William) Clancy was born on 2nd September 1935 in Carrick-on-Suir, County Tipperary. He died on 4th December 2009 - he was the last surviving member of The Clancy Brothers.
The Clancy Brothers played a big part in the folk music revival, and they recorded 55 albums and had huge international success.
Bob Dylan said Liam was the greatest ballad singer ever.

1971 Dolores Mary Eileen O’Riordan was born on 6th September 1971 in Limerick, Ireland. She is a singer/songwriter and musician playing the guitar, keyboards and piccolo. She was lead singer with The Cranberries for 13 years, and achieved international success before the band broke up in 2003. The Cranberries reformed in 2011, and a new album “Roses” is due out at the end of 2011.
She often performed barefoot on stage, and was known for her changing hairstyle and colour.

1924 Bridie Gallagher was born on 7th September, 1924 in Creeslough, County Donegal. She is an Irish singer (now semi-retired), and was known as The Girl from Donegal.
In 1956, she released A Mother’s Love’s A Blessing. The song that helped her achieve international success was The Boys From County Armagh. She had her own radio show in Ireland, and appeared on TV all across America, Britain and Ireland.
She holds the record of the largest attendance of Albert Hall in London (it later became an all-seated venue).
