Dublin City Ramblers honoured at Music Awards

The Dublin City Ramblers have been honoured with a Ballad/Folk Group of the Year award at the Irish Country Music Awards.

The award marks 40 years in the music business for the Irish folk group who become the first ever winners of the Ballad/Folk Group of the Year category.

Several albums and great live shows

During their long career, the multi award winning Dublin City Ramblers have released over 30 albums, eight of which went gold. They have also notched up several top ten hits.

They continue to wow audiences all over the world with shows that are full of energy, humour and most of all great music.

They play a mixture of ballads and folk music and have performed at some of the world’s most iconic venues and festivals including Dublin’s National Stadium, New York’s Carnegie Hall, England’s Royal Albert Hall, Hollywood Irish Fest, Florida, Miami Irish Fest, the Cleveland Irish Festival, and the Milwaukee Irish Festival.

Celebrity fans and special honours

Throughout their career they have performed in front of several well known celebrities and can count former Republic of Ireland football manger, Jack Charlton and ‘The Quiet Man’ actress, Maureen O’Hara among their famous fans.

They have been given the Keys to the cities of Ft Lauderdale and Hollywood (Florida) and Moorehead, Kentucky.

They have also been entered into the Hall Of Fame in The Helen Stairs Theatre in Florida, and received The Arkansas Traveller Award.

What next for the Ramblers?

The Ballad/Folk Group of the year award is a great testament to their long career, a career that shows no signs of slowing down.

They are about to embark on another world tour. Look out for them in Ireland, England, Europe, USA, Canada and Australia.
